De Niro Among Top 25
August 1, 1998
Coveted actor Robert De Niro was recently dubbed one of the Top 25 Greatest Actors of All Time by Entertainment Weekly.  Here is a clipping of the article.
Sure, he could play a normal guy if he wanted to. But why would he? He does wounded, twisted, maniacal, hard-assed, and demented better than anyone else (The Godfather, Part II; Taxi Driver; Raging Bull). And unlike so many lions of American acting, De Niro, 54, hasn't succumbed to laziness in the '90s; he's never rested on his mannerisms--perhaps because he has none. Ultimately, the two-time Academy Award winner is the world's most famous character actor.
De Niro is truly deservant of this accolade.  Among other actors named in the top 25 were Samuel L. Jackson, Kevin Spacey, Tom Hanks, Johnny Depp, William H. Macy, Robin Williams, Harvey Keitel, and many more.  The article reviews the actors' best, worst, and newest films.
